Stone has a high position in decoration materials, and its decorative is irreplaceable, which is widely used on buildings’ facades, therefore, the owners hope that the stone and buildings can have the same vitality. The stone that has good durability, not only can ensure the building has a beautiful exterior, but also extend the buildings’ repair cycle. While using the stone as the decorating materials for the exterior walls, floors and halls, you must investigate the following aspects about the stone material first:

1、    Physical property. Stones must be able to withstand a number of external forces including gravity, wind, vibration, temperature changes, wear and tear, load, etc. That requires the stone to have a high strength, especially when you want to install the stone in a high position.

2、    Chemical property. Stone must have a considerable resistance for chemical erosions such as weathering, hydration, dissolution, dehydration, acidification, reduction and carbonates. To achieve that, the stone must be waterproof.

3、    Structural strength. In the selection of directional stones, such as slate and shale, you must pay attention to the strength of the structures in different directions.

4、    Water absorption. When the stone is untapped, the structure of the stone is relatively stable, but once when it expose to the atmosphere, there would be a bad combination of minerals within the stone, like the limestone dissolve in acid and forms calcium sulfate, cause the collapse of the sandstone and etc. Therefore, when you are choosing the stone material, we should choose the stone with uniform pore distribution, small pore size and low water absorption.
